Senator Cardin on sentence on Anar Mammadli
An influential American Senator, the head of the Helsinki Commission,
Cardin in his micro blog on Twitter reacted to the verdict on the civic activist in Azerbaijan, Anar Mammadli.
"Election observers should not be penalized for the work that they do," wrote the senator, who earlier in statements condemned the persecution of civil society activists by the authorities of Azerbaijan.
Recall that Anar Mammadli was sentenced to 5.5 years for having exposed the rigged presidential elections in Azerbaijan in October 2013. -25B-
