Baku/25.02.21/Turan: The natives of Armenia, detained after the attack on the Azerbaijani restaurant 1001 Nights in Moscow during the aggravation of hostilities on the border of the two countries in July 2020, were sentenced to two years in prison.
The Nikulinsky Court of Moscow announced the verdict on seven natives of Armenia who participated in the attack on the Azerbaijani restaurant 1001 Nights in July 2020. All of them were found guilty of hooliganism and sentenced to two years of imprisonment in general regime colonies, Caucasian Knot reports with reference to Kommersant.
According to the investigation, Artak and Seyran Nikoyan, Armen and Arsen Apriyan, Argishti and Nareg Petrosyan, as well as Razmig Sahakyan broke into the 1001 Nights restaurant in Maryino on July 24, 2020, armed with knives and bats, and began to smash the premises. The guard who was trying to stop them was injured. The attack lasted no more than five minutes, after which the men fled. The incident was recorded by a surveillance camera, thanks to which it was possible to establish the identity of the attackers, the newspaper writes.
Recall that the clashes between the natives of Armenia and Azerbaijan took place against the background of an exacerbation of the armed conflict on the border of the two countries, which began on July 12, 2020. On July 30, 2020, the fighting actually stopped, and according to the data on that day, six Armenian soldiers were killed and 38 were wounded, including two policemen and one civilian. The Azerbaijani authorities, as of July 16, reported 13 killed, including one local resident. Diaspora leaders in southern Russia urged people from Armenia and Azerbaijan to refrain from provocations and maintain order, the Caucasian Knot notes. — 06D-
