Sheikh Held Meetings at the Highest Level in Iran
Head of the Caucasus Muslims Sheikh Pashazade led a delegation on a visit to Iran. The day before, he was received by Security Council Secretary Saeed Jalili, Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani and President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.
As reported by FARS, the meetings stressed the historical closeness and affinity of the two peoples. They expressed the need to strengthen economic ties.
Larijani also called for strengthening the religious education of Azerbaijan, which, in his opinion, will promote the development, and strengthening of the country.
At a meeting with Ahmadinejad it was noted that the two countries support each other on all issues.
The Sheikh was welcomed by Ali Khamenei, the supreme spiritual leader of Iran. According to information from the Iranian media, the meeting was held in a congenial atmosphere. The Sheikh invited Khamenei to visit Azerbaijan.
The visit of The Sheikh began May 18 and is currently ongoing. As part of the Azerbaijani delegation, there were members of the Inter-Parliamentary Friendship Group of the Iran-Azerbaijan.
It should be noted that the Iranian authorities do not accept Azerbaijani officials at such a high level. However, some time ago, Iran visited the main ideologue of Azerbaijan Ali Hasanov, but sent only a deputy minister of culture of Iran.
The day after a recent visit to Iran by the head of the presidential administration Ramiz Mehdiyev, the Iranian authorities arrested Azerbaijani writer Khalida Khalid. -16D-
