Slurred Reaction of Baku to Arms Supplies to Armenia
Azerbaijani authorities do not comment on reports about agreements between Yerevan and Moscow on the supply of new weapons for 200 million dollars and the possible supply of missile systems Iskander-M.
Only the head of the press service of the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry Hikmat Hajiyev spoke with caution on this issue yesterday. According to him, Baku "strongly" supports the idea that weapons supplied to Yerevan should not be placed on the occupied territories of Azerbaijan. "According to Hajiyev, at the moment the issue is being studied.
"The location of such weapons on the occupied territories in violation of international law can cause serious damage to the settlement of the conflict through negotiations," said Hajiyev.
What official Baku means by that is difficult to understand. Such a stance of appeasement is dissonant with angry accusations of Baku to the West because of its "double standards," no sanctions against Yerevan occupying the territory of Azerbaijan, etc. -06D--
