SOCAR representative goes to Tbilisi to "clarify" the situation

The representative of SOCAR will have a meeting  on January 13 in Tbilisi a  with the Georgian Energy Minister Kakha Kaladze, Georgian Energy Ministry reported.

"A representative of SOCAR  will arrive in Tbilisi tomorrow. The parties will discuss the details. Basically it would be a price, according to which  will be resolved the  shortfall of gas supplies," said the Energy Ministry, without revealing the name of the representative of SOCAR.

Today Kaladze met with Georgian experts and described the talks with the Russian "Gazprom".

After the meeting, the expert Tornike Sharashenidze said that it was a shortfall of gas, at this stage, the Ministry of Energy of Georgia considers it appropriate to negotiate on this issue it with "Gazprom".

Head of the Caucasian Centre of Strategic Research Mamuka Areshidze told reporters after the meeting that the agreement with "Gazprom" is caused by the growth of gas consumption.

Azerbaijan supplies 85% of gas  to  Georgia. However, Tbilisi complains about supply disruptions and wants to re-buy 10% of its gas from "Gazprom". Now this amount of gas Georgia receives as payment for the transit of gas to Armenia. Now, however, Tbilisi wants to receive payment in the form of money and not the gas itself. -02D-
