Residents of the city of Liman of Lankaran region held a protest against the increase in prices caused by the devaluation of the manat. According to local sources, in the afternoon about 200 people blocked the road Baku-Astara. They were protesting not only against the high cost, but also against mass unemployment and the growth of crime, in particular theft.
Police arrived to the scene. After the talks, the protesters opened the road. However, their delegation was received by the executive power of Lankaran.
After devaliation of manat on February 21 and December 21, 2015 the national currency depreciated by almost two times. This led to a rise in prices across the country.
