State Security Service Reports on Disclosure of Spy Network
Baku / 18.07.17 / Turan: As a result of counterintelligence measures carried out by the State Security Service (SSS), Yagubov Mukhtar Jamal Oglu, a citizen of Azerbaijan, was detained while trying to export spy information in a small electronic device on the order of foreign special services.
As the SSS department for public relations informed, during the investigation the criminal case started under article 274 (state treason) of the Criminal Code, and other members of the espionage network operating in Baku and other regions of the country were exposed and prosecuted. They are Azerbaijani citizens Ahmedov Shakir Khanlar Oglu, Zeynalli Zeka Abysh Oglu, Abbaszadeh Sabuhi Ogtay Oglu, Nuriyev Khudashukur Mejid Oglu and Huseynov Kamaladdin Isakhan Oglu.
A measure of restraint in the form of arrest was chosen against them.
In the course of investigative and operational activities, the law enforcers revealed mutual correspondence of members of the espionage network with foreign special services, preparations for the transfer of information of a different nature, data on attempts to involve state officials, public figures and representatives of other circles in order to gather secret information about the armed forces and the security measures held in the country.
