Statement of the Russian Foreign Ministry in connection with the aggravation of the situation in Karabakh
Baku/04.08.22/Turan: “We express extreme concern over the escalation of tension in the area of the Lachin corridor and in other parts of the line of contact. Unfortunately, there are casualties. We offer our deepest condolences to the families and friends of the victims, and wish a speedy recovery to the wounded", a statement by the Russian Foreign Ministry on Thursday.
“Russian peacekeepers are making every effort to stabilize the situation on the ground. Active work with both sides is carried out through all channels and at all levels, including the top leadership of the country.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov is in close contact with his Azerbaijani and Armenian counterparts.
We call on the parties to exercise restraint and observe the ceasefire regime. We proceed from the fact that the settlement of existing contradictions should be carried out exclusively by political and diplomatic means, taking into account the positions of the parties and in strict accordance with the provisions of the Statement of the leaders of Russia, Azerbaijan and Armenia dated November 9, 2020,” the statement says. --02D--
