Strasbourg Court to Announce Decision on Case of Nakhchivan Journalist
On June 18 the European Court of Human Rights will announce a decision on the complaint from Hakimeldostu Mehdiyev.
According to the former head of the Media Rights Institute Rashid Hajili, the journalist was illegally arrested in the Sharur region of Nakhchivan and tortured in 2008.
A day later he was released, but after he told the press about the pressure on him, he was again arrested on charges of resisting the police. During his arrest, he was again subjected to torture and humiliation. All his complaints to the courts of Nakhchivan and Baku were ignored. -03D-
