The Audiovisual Council recalls the journalistic ethics in connection with the scenes of violence against the captured Azerbaijani soldier
Baku/17.04.23/Turan: On April 10, two Azerbaijani servicemen lost their way and inadvertently crossed over to the Armenian side in the Shahbuz region of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, due to adverse weather conditions and limited visibility. Subsequently, they were reportedly tortured by the Armenian side, with scenes of violence against them being spread by Armenian media.
Experts have pointed out that this goes against journalistic ethics, and such cases are sometimes seen in Azerbaijani TV shows. In response, the Audiovisual Council informed Turan news agency that Azerbaijani television adheres to ethical standards, particularly during sensitive moments such as broadcasting images of prisoners. The council stated that Azerbaijani television blurs the faces of not only prisoners but also children when required to protect identity secrets or when scenes of violence and victims are not allowed to be broadcast.
The council further stated that regular monitoring is conducted to ensure compliance with these standards. The Audiovisual Council was established on February 8, 2022, as a successor to the former National Council for Television and Radio, with the main objective of implementing state policy in the field of broadcasting and regulating this activity.--0--
