The court sent the ex-deputy of the Parliament of Azerbaijan Nazim Beidemirli under arrest
Baku/05.07.23/Turan: On July 5, the Narimanov District Court of Baku chose a preventive measure in the form of arrest for a period of 4 months against ex-deputy of the Parliament of Azerbaijan, entrepreneur and public activist Nazim Beidemirli, the lawyer of the former parliamentarian Agyl Laidj.
According to him, Beidemirli has been charged under the Article 182.2.4 (extortion by threats committed for the purpose of appropriation of a significant amount of property) of the Criminal Code of Azerbaijan. Beidemirli pleads not guilty and intends to file an appeal.
Beidemirli was detained on July 4. After the arrest, he called his lawyer and said that he was involved because of his position in connection with the unrest in the village of Seyudlu of the Gadabey region.
In an interview with the media, the ex-deputy stated the validity of the claims of local residents about the harmful effects on human health and the environment of the activities of a gold mining enterprise located in the village. ---06/16В---
