The decision to arrest A.Sadigov in Tbilisi appealed
An appeal has been filed against the decision to arrest “Azel TV” director Afgan Sadigov in Tbilisi at the request of Azerbaijan, his wife Sevinj Sadigova told Turan. According to her, on August 5, lawyer Dito Nozadze will meet with her husband in jail. Sevinj Sadigova said that she and her two school-age daughters feel in danger in Georgia. "There are always suspicious people around the building where we live. My children are in fear. The police detained the Afghan right in front of their eyes. I can't leave my children at home alone to protect Afgan. Tomorrow (August 6) I will apply to the embassies of a number of countries in Georgia for asylum," Sadigova said.
The Criminal Police of Georgia announced that they had detained A.Sadigov for extradition, as he was wanted in Azerbaijan in an extortion case. The human rights organization "Rights Georgia" reported that it protects the interests of A.Sadigov. The organization called the intentions of the Georgian authorities to extradite A. "suspicious" Sadigov according to a simplified procedure.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Azerbaijan does not comment on the case of A.Sadigov, who was detained on August 3 in Tbilisi at the request of Azerbaijan. The next day, the court convicted him and his in custody.
