The nomination of five presidential candidates was approved
Baku / 14.02.18 / Turan: The Central Election Commission today approved the nomination of five candidates for the presidency as presidential candidates. Among them: the incumbent president, the head of the ruling New Azerbaijan Party Ilham Aliyev, the chairman of the Liberal Democratic Party Fuad Aliyev, who are nominated by their parties.
Self-nominees have also been approved: Anar Umudov (lawyer), Zahid Oruj (MP) and Tural Abbasly (head of the officially not registered "White Party").
Now, to officially register them as candidates, at least 40,000 voters' signatures must be collected in their favor, from at least 60 single-mandate electoral districts.
Extraordinary presidential elections are scheduled for April 11. 16D06-
