The place of human rights in EU-Baku relations
Baku/12.07.17/Turan: The document on the priorities of the partnership, initialed between the EU and Azerbaijan, reflects the existing realities, said in an interview with Turan agency apolitical scientist Eldar Namazov, commenting on the initialing in Brussels of the "Partnership Priorities" between Azerbaijan and the EU. According to him, all 4 priorities are important.
"For example, good governance, transparency and the fight against corruption. These issues civil society raised for many years before the authorities," Namazov said. As for the lack of human rights among the priorities, the parties reached a compromise and this issue will remain the focus of attention as far as possible, Namazov said.
"It would be better if this issue was among the priorities, but apparently it takes time. Nevertheless, this issue is raised in the document. Therefore, it is wrong to believe that human rights are pushed to the background, just this question is "brought in accordance with the real situation," Namazov believes. -06D-
