The Russian Foreign Ministry welcomes the readiness of Baku and Yerevan to normalize relations
Baku/08.12.23/Turan: Moscow is pleased with the joint statement of the leadership of Azerbaijan and Armenia on their intention to normalize relations and conclude a peace treaty, the comments of the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova.
"We welcome the agreement between Baku and Yerevan on the release of Armenian and Azerbaijani servicemen. Russia has consistently promoted the idea of exchanging detainees on the principle of "all for all." This contributes to mutual confidence-building and opens up new opportunities in advancing the process of Armenian-Azerbaijani normalization in line with the comprehensive trilateral agreements of the leaders of Russia, Azerbaijan and Armenia in 2020-2022," the commentary says.
The Russian side is ready to continue to provide all possible assistance in unblocking transport communications, delineating the border, concluding a peace treaty and contacts through civil society, she noted. -0-
