The Supreme Court rejects the appeal of Ilgar Mamedov
On Friday Azerbaijan's Supreme Court dismissed the appeal of the arrested leader of the REAL Movement, Ilgar Mamedov, on the refusal to register him as a candidate the presidency. The Supreme Court considers grounded the CEC decision on the recognition of approximately 5,000 signatures in Mamedov’s flavor invalid.
The lawyer Khalid Bagirov introduced acts on the validity of signatures. Referring to the views of experts, he noted that the authentication of only one signature required a whole day.
Mamedov called the court ruling "politically motivated." He again called on his supporters to vote for the presidential candidate of the National Council, Jamil Hasanli. In addition, Mamedov said that while the country has a young supporters of the republic, there will not absolute monarchy in the country.—06B-
