The U.S. Embassy: John Kerry did not call to Mamedyarov
The information about a phone call by the Secretary of State, John Kerry, to the Foreign Minister of Azerbaijan, does not correspond to reality, Turan was told by the press service of the US Embassy, commenting a fudge of an Azerbaijani agency, claiming that Kerry asked Mammadyarov about the NDI and the OSCE Office.
"The State Department and the private office of John Kerry denied the call," – says the press service of the Embassy.
Later in the afternoon the press service of Azerbaijan’s Foreign Ministry, also stated there was not a call from the U.S. Secretary of State.
Commenting on these rumors, a former diplomat, who requested anonymity, told Turan, that such rumors probably are started by the Azerbaijani authorities.
“Official Baku wants to represent the matter so as if the U.S. is asking Baku not to close the offices of the OSCE and NDI.
And Baku showing, "generosity", considers the interests of its partner. But everything looks so stupid that can impress only the audience of AZTV,” - said the former diplomat. -02В-
