Tofig Yagublu arrested after participating in a rally in defense of B. Hajiyev
Baku/23.12.22/Turan: Tofig Yagublu, a member of the coordination center of the National Council of Democratic Forces (NCDF) and the Musavat Party, was administratively arrested for 30 days by the decision of the Sabail District Court, his lawyer Neymat Karimli told Turan. The court found Yagublu guilty of "petty hooliganism" and "not obeying the police."
However, Yagublu denied the accusation and stated that he was being persecuted for participating in a peaceful protest action demanding the release of Bakhtiyar Hajiyev. The lawyer called the accusation unfounded. The video footage taken by the journalists shows how Yagublu arrives at the place of the action and is immediately detained.
According to the Popular Front Party of Azerbaijan (PFPA), in total, 58 people were detained in connection with a protest action demanding the release of Hajiyev on December 23.
By 19.00 most of the detainees were released. 10-15 people remained in the departments, including the executive director of the human rights organization "Defense Line" Rufat Safarov. -06B-
