Tokayev replaces Nazarbayev as head of the Security Council
Baku/05.01.21/Turan: Against the background of the intensification of unrest in Kazakhstan, the country's President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev announced that he had removed Nursultan Nazarbayev from the post of head of the Security Council. From now on, this body will be headed by Tokayev himself.
The post of secretary of the Security Council is one of several top positions that remained with Nazarbayev, who ruled Kazakhstan for 30 years, after leaving the presidency in 2019.
He also holds the post of head of the party of his Nur Otan party and bears the honorary title of "Elbasy", or "father of the nation".
It is difficult to say that it will calm the protesters. So far, the riots are only intensifying and engulfing new regions of the country. The population does not react to the promises of the authorities to lower gas prices. -02D-
