Two customs officials arrested
Baku/27.01.23/Turan: During the operation of the Anti-Corruption Department under the Prosecutor General, together with the State Customs Committee (SCC), illegal actions of customs officers were revealed.
The investigation revealed the facts of receiving bribes by Shahin Iskenderov, an employee of the Risk Assessment and Management Department of the Main Customs Department for Excisable Goods, in exchange for a reduction in duties for importing cars into the country, the message of the Prosecutor General's Office.
It was also revealed that an employee of the Shirvan customs post, Javid Mammadov, received bribes in exchange for quick inspections at the post. In addition, J. Mammadov is suspected of repeatedly receiving bribes in exchange for assistance in illegally sending money to Russia without declaring it.
Based on these facts, criminal cases have been initiated. Iskenderov and Mammadov were charged under Articles 311.2 (taking a bribe) and 311.3.2 (repeating a bribe) of the Criminal Code. Both were arrested by court order. The investigation continues. ---05D06---
