U.S.A. Against Unilateral Recognition of Nagorno-Karabakh

. “The United States, along with the rest of the international community, does not recognize Nagorno-Karabakh. Nagorno-Karabakh’s final status will only be resolved in the context of a comprehensive settlement, so we urge the sides to come to the negotiating table in good faith in order to reach a settlement that achieves those goals,” the State Department spokesman Mark Toner said, commenting on Armenia's intention to recognize the independence of Nagorno-Karabakh.

He also said that the United States continues to support a settlement on the basis of three principles: self-determination, no use of force and territorial integrity. These principles should be taken into account in the context of solving the problem by the OSCE Minsk Group, he said.   -02D-
