Ветераны борьбы с коммунизмом призвали Запад остановить агрессию России
Baku/01.03.22/Turan: The international sanctions imposed against Russia are not effective for protecting Ukraine. The United States and Great Britain should provide Ukraine with military assistance, as guarantors of the agreement on the renunciation of Ukraine's nuclear weapons, the statement issued on behalf of the "Veterans of the struggle against communism for the independence of the peoples enslaved by Soviet and Putin's Russia."
The document was signed by more than 30 people - participants in the democratic movements of the late 1980s and 1990s. in the republics of the former USSR and the countries of the socialist camp. Among the signatories is also the speaker of the Azerbaijani Parliament in 1992-1993 , former head of the Musavat party Isa Gambar.
“Russia’s war with Ukraine is the beginning of the Kremlin’s war with the entire free world. Putin officially declares that he intends to restore the Russian empire. The Russian State Duma agreed to the use of Russian troops outside the borders of the Russian Federation. Previously, in 2008, the agreement concerned only Georgia. Now it concerns the conquest of any states. It is necessary to admit to NATO as soon as possible all the states that want it,” the statement says.
The authors believe that “Putin, sensing the weakness of the West, does not stop at the conquered and uses blackmail methods, because his goal is Russia from the Atlantic to the Pacific." “The sanctions imposed by the free world have proved ineffective. It is necessary, without stopping at anything, to impose a SWIFT blockade, to exclude Russia and its citizens from international economic, political, cultural, social and sports life. It is our duty to document the crimes of Putin and Lukashenko so that in the near future these criminals will be brought before the International Tribunal. The leaders of those states that blocked the admission of Ukraine to NATO and assistance to the fighting Ukraine will also bear responsibility to their peoples and history,” the document says further.
“Great Britain and the United States are obliged to provide even military assistance to Ukraine, because it gave up itsher atomic weapons in exchange for guarantees of sovereignty and territorial integrity. If the free world does not provide assistance to Ukraine, then by doing so it will give a signal for the mastery of atomic weapons by other states - to ensure protection against potential Russian aggression,” the authors of the statement believe.
They believe that if Ukraine “fails to stop the Russian hordes”, then the freedom of people throughout Europe will be threatened. “Now there is still a choice, but we have very little time to start acting,” the statement concluded. -06D-
