Demarche to Lavrov at the session of the UN Human Rights Council
Baku/01.03.22/Turan: Diplomats from a dozen countries, in protest of Russia's aggression, left the hall of the session of the UN Human Rights Council in Geneva during a speech by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, unian.net reports.
Lavrov, who was connected via video link, read out a lengthy statement justifying the attack on Ukraine as an alleged violation of human rights by the Ukrainian side, the newspaper writes.
At first, the Russian wanted to personally take part in the meeting. Then the trip was canceled, citing the blocking of European airspace for Russian aircraft. During his speech, Lavrov announced Kiev's intentions to turn Ukraine into "anti-Russia" "to please the West."
The diplomat also expressed other propaganda clichés with which the Kremlin has been justifying the war against Ukraine and the brutal killings of civilians for the sixth day. During Lavrov's speech, many diplomats began to leave the hall.—06B--
