The Azerbaijan Democracy and Welfare Party activists held a rally in front of the Russian Embassy
Baku/03.01.22/Turan: A group of activists of the Azerbaijan Democracy and Welfare Party (ADWP) today held a protest action in front of the Russian Embassy in Baku against Russia's military invasion of Ukraine. The protesters raised a banner with the slogan "No aggression!". They also chanted the slogans “Putin go away!”, “We protest the war!”, “Russian army leave Ukraine!”, and etc. The police pushed the protesters away from the embassy building.
However, Alovsat Sadigli, an activist of the party, read out a statement pointing to the aggression committed by the Russian Federation against Ukraine, which is a violation of international law.
“The war against Ukraine is not just, it contributes to numerous human casualties, including among the civilian population, the mass destruction of children and the elderly, and therefore must be suspended. This aggression is a threat to stability in the region and the planet and can turn into a world war. We demand an end to the war and the withdrawal of Russian troops from the internationally recognized borders of Ukraine,” the statement says.
However, as only Sadigli finished his speech, the police began to detain the protesters. In total, five people were detained. -03B06-
