We Expect Constructive Steps from Yerevan - M. Çavuşoğlu
Baku/29.01.21/Turan: “Peace in the South Caucasus meets the interests of all countries in the region, especially Armenia. Therefore, we expect constructive steps from Yerevan in this direction”. As reported by the Anadolu agency, Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu said this at a joint press conference with his Iranian counterpart Mohammed Javad Zarif in Istanbul on Friday.
According to Çavuşoğlu, he discussed with Zarif the situation in the region, including in Syria and the South Caucasus.
The head of Turkish diplomacy further drew attention to the topic of US anti-Iranian sanctions, stressing that Ankara from the very beginning opposed restrictions on Iran. “I hope the Joe Biden administration will return to the terms of the nuclear deal with Iran. Thus, the sanctions against brotherly Iran will be lifted,” Çavuşoğlu said.
The Iranian Foreign Minister, in turn, noted that cooperation between Iran and Turkey in the Caucasus will definitely benefit the region. —16D06-
