Will Pashinyan Discuss His Upcoming Meeting with Aliyev with Karabakh Separatists?
Baku / 11.03.19 / Turan: On March 12, a meeting of the "Security Council" will be held in Karabakh with the participation of Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, Armenian media reported.
The topic of the discussion is not disclosed. However, it is very likely that Pashinyan will inform about the upcoming meeting with Ilham Aliyev and want to hear the Karabakh separatists" opinion in this regard.
It should be noted that the recent statements of Armenian officials about the refusal of the return of Karabakh and the readiness to attack deep into the territory of Azerbaijan caused criticism from the international community, and the Minsk Group co-chairs made a special statement.
In Armenia and in Karabakh, such statements were also criticized by the opposition and were regarded as ill-considered and weakening Armenia"s position at the talks.
Thus, the former deputy chairman of the ruling Republican Party, Eduard Sharmazanov, called the OSCE MG statement a "slap in the face" to Yerevan.
In turn, a member of the "Karabakh parliament" Vardges Bagryan, criticized Pashinyan"s attempts to change the format of the talks, including Nagorno-Karabakh.
"I did not expect that the format could change at the suggestion of the Prime Minister of Armenia. I don't know if anyone believed that. Nikol Pashinyan stated that Artsakh should participate in the negotiations; moreover, the format should be changed. The statement of the Minsk Group did not come as a surprise to me," Terg.am quotes Bagryan. -02D-
