Will the foreign ministers of Armenia and Azerbaijan meet in Brussels?
Baku/17.12.20/Turan: Foreign Ministers of Armenia and Azerbaijan Ara Ayvazyan and Jeyhun Bayramov are in Brussels at separate meetings of the European Union Partnership Council.
An official ministerial meeting has not been announced. The parties report only about the participation of Ayvazyan and Bayramov in the meetings of the EU-Armenia Partnership Council and the EU-Azerbaijan Partnership Council.
However, the simultaneous holding of two meetings in Brussels at the level of Deputy Prime Minister of Belgium, Minister of Foreign Affairs, European Affairs, Foreign Trade and Federal Cultural Institutions Sophie Wilmes can hardly be called a coincidence.
Further strengthening of the EU's interaction with the two warring Caucasian states is on the agenda of the meetings, but the solution of the problem of regional security in the post-war period came to the fore.
According to the Armenian Foreign Ministry, in this context, the Foreign Ministers of Armenia and Belgium emphasized the importance of the direct involvement of the international community, in particular the EU countries, in the process of resolving the crisis.
The sides especially noted the importance of addressing the issues of peaceful settlement within the framework of the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairmanship.
Apparently, the format of the parallel meetings has been chosen for prompt clarification and even elimination of issues that the EU has to the parties to the Karabakh conflict. In addition, this format makes it possible to determine quickly the line of behavior of the EU towards Armenia and Azerbaijan in the short term. — 0—
