Yeni Azerbaijan refused a free broadcast
Baku / 17.01.20 / Turan: The ruling New Azerbaijan Party rejected free airtime on Public Television and Radio as part of its election campaign in the February 9 parliamentary elections.
The party explained this step as a desire to create "equal conditions for all candidates."
In accordance with the Electoral Code, parties and electoral blocs with registered candidates in more than 60 constituencies have the right to campaign on the air free. To date, only the NAP has received such a right.
According to observers, the authorities are not interested in real debate on TV and the political activity of voters.
It is not the first time when YAP "generously" refuses to broadcast after it gets the opportunity to single-handedly campaign on TV.
It is noteworthy that all national and regional TV refused to conduct campaigning on a paid basis.
Only ITV expressed its readiness to provide broadcasting for a fee, setting very high tariffs - from 22 to 65 manats in 1 second. –06В-
