Yerevan heading for breakdown of peace talks with Azerbaijan?
Baku/20.01.22/Turan: The preparation and signing of a peace treaty with Azerbaijan involves a number of conditions, Armenian Security Council Secretary Armen Grigoryan told reporters on Thursday.
"We will continue to work on drawing up a comprehensive peace treaty. For this to happen, we need to find a solution to the Karabakh problem through negotiations and political mechanisms, and within the framework of the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairmen Troika," Sputnik Armenia quoted Grigoryan as saying.
Earlier, assistant to the Azerbaijani President Hikmet Hajiyev stated that Baku was waiting for a response from Yerevan to start negotiations on a possible peace agreement.
Asked about Armenia's position on the status of Karabakh in future negotiations, Grigoryan said that "there should not be any restrictions on the status issue". In other words, Yerevan refuses to recognize Karabakh as a part of Azerbaijan. -02D-
