Akram Aylisli: Political charges for artwork
The writer Akram Aylisli called unfounded the attacks on him in connection with the novel "Stone Dreams", which refers to the negative cases against Armenians in Azerbaijan during the Karabakh conflict and in the past.
"The fact is that we can not yet perceive literary work and put forward political accusations against a novel.
A novel is literary work and civilized people ought not to seek criminal in a work of art," Aylisli told Turan.
Aylisli did not rule out violence against himself or his family. "If that happens, the blame for this will lie on the authorities," said the writer.
Referring to the theme of the novel, Aylisli said: "I wanted to send a message to Armenians, and basically to those living in our Nagorno-Karabakh region, that the people of Azerbaijan also see their own mistakes.
While we still have not completely separated, let us look at our life together. This is the essence of the novel," said Aylisli.
He also believes that the pressure he is under is mainly due to his membership in the Forum of Azerbaijani Intelligentsia. Therefore, he did not rule out that the campaign of harassment will be directed against the Intelligentsia Forum as a whole. -03B06-
