Armenia mistakenly delays signing of peace agreement with Azerbaijan

Baku/05.09.21/Turan: The reason for delaying the start of peace negotiations between Armenia and Azerbaijan, where the key point is mutual recognition as two independent states, is Yerevan's unreadiness, Mehman Aliyev,director of the Turan News Agency, said in an interview with the Echo Baku project.

In his opinion, recognizing Azerbaijan within its current borders, the Armenian elite will thus be forced to recognize the former Nagorno-Karabakh as an integral part of Azerbaijan.

However, Aliyev believes, Armenia will be forced, in the end, to recognize the Azerbaijani state within its current borders, since the expectation of a change in the geopolitical situation, which may lead to the return of the status quo to the 44-day war, does not justify itself. Relations between countries such as Russia and Turkey interacting in the settlement of the conflict remain stable and, moreover, are expanding in the Greater East.

Despite border excesses, Azerbaijan continues to increase its presence in the de-occupied territories, where active work is underway to reconstruct the liberated lands. Therefore, the development of the situation can be viewed as positive for Azerbaijan, Aliyev believes. —0—
