Chehraganli: Iran will Collapse like in Yugoslavia

Leader of the Southern Azerbaijan National Awakening Movement (SANAM), Mahmudali Chehreganly, who is in exile, commented on Iranian-Azerbaijani relations, Iran's relations with the West, and the situation of the arrest of two young Azerbaijani poets in Iran in an interview with contact.az

Chehreganly considers the arrest of writers Farid Hussein and Shahriyar Hajizade inappropriate and unreasonable. They legally entered Iranian territory and participated at an event on Azerbaijani language and literature.

"Azerbaijanis in northern Azerbaijan are well aware that Iran is ruled by a totalitarian regime. So I do not believe that these young people could be engaged in any espionage activities in Iran. The charge of spying against them is absolutely far-fetched," said Chehreganly.

Thus, the Iranian regime makes it clear it does not want to see the representatives of intellectuals from northern Azerbaijan in Iran.

Referring to the situation in Syria, Chehreganly noted that there is an internal struggle in this country, and confrontation has unfolded on a religious basis - between Sunnis and Shiites. Shiites are supported by Iran, and the Sunnis are supported by Turkey and the Arab world, which provide full support to the Syrian opposition. Assad's regime is supported by Iran.

In his view, all will end up in the collapse of Syria into three parts - Sunni, Alawi and Kurdish regions. The situation in Iran is also tense.

Because the problems between the West and Iran have not been resolved through dialogue, since 2010 a covert struggle has gradually been growing into a war.  The murder of the Iranian nuclear scientists, cyber attacks on Iran's nuclear facilities, the sanctions against Tehran and oil embargo... all of this is evidence of large problems between the West and Iran, inevitably leading to military confrontation. The ending of this will be the overthrow of the Iranian regime and the disintegration of the country into several parts, like what happened inYugoslavia.

How to see the future of Azeris in Iran? Answering this question, Chehreganly said that active phase of the national liberation struggle has been going on in Southern Azerbaijan for 17 years. Despite the harsh policy of assimilation, the process of reviving the national consciousness of 35 million Azeris in South Azerbaijan is ongoing.

Today, South Azerbaijan is ready to create a national state, although the geopolitical situation does not allow it. However, in the end, the Turkic Republic of South Azerbaijan will be created.  Then will be reunification of South and North Azerbaijan, he says.

At the same time, Chehraganly believes that the West has no interest in the rights of Azerbaijani Turks in Iran. The West is more interested in the rights of two million Baluchis, two million Iranian Arabs, and four million Kurds.

"As far as I understand, the West is not interested in creating a Turkic state with a population of 35 million and rich oil and gas resources, which will eventually unite with the Republic of Azerbaijan with a population of 45-50 million, but this process is irreversible," he said. -05В-
