Vahid Ahmadov: new devaluation depends on oil prices
Vahid Ahmadov, the deputy of the Milli Majlis, member of the Parliamentary Committee on Economic Policy in an interview with Turan, and the radio station "Voice of America" commented on the results of the outgoing year. The year 2015 was remembered by the global crisis, which also affected the Azerbaijani economy. Thus, the fall in world oil prices has reduced the country's revenues, and the devaluation of the manat further aggravate the situation.
The results of 11 months of the outgoing year showed resilience of the Azerbaijani economy, and 36% of GDP growthis observed. Inflation I s very low. "Despite the trials of the 2015 year, we will successfully complete it," continued Ahmadov. Whether the social situation of the country improved in the past year? Answering this question, Ahmedov said that, in general, incomes rose. There is an increase in comparison with the 2015th year, though not large - 4%.
In addition, payments from the state budget for social purposes have been fully implemented. There were not delays in the payment of pensions, social benefits, salary.
"Yes, the results of 11 months show that the Azerbaijani government, fully complies with budgetary commitments," said Akhmedov. However, he admitted that in 2015 there have been job losses, particularly following the devaluation of the manat. For example, in the construction sector.
Do you expect a new devaluation? In answering this question, Ahmadov said that AZN depends on oil prices. "Our national currency, including the state budget depends on oil. Therefore, the need for devaluation will depend on oil prices," said the deputy.
However, Ahmadov stressed that he does not support a shock therapy. "Sooner or later manat should find its true value. That is, there is a need a floating rate that was not shock therapy.
Now the oilprice is 38 dollars, and perhaps even more cheaper. In the budget we have laid the price of 50 dollars per barrel, but in 2016 there may be new rises-downs. Therefore, the devaluation of the manat is possible," said Akhmedov.
However, he stressed that in spite of the reduction of the state budget 2016, there are no cuts in the social projects.
"Even if oil prices fall sharply, Azerbaijan has sufficient reserves. Perhaps the head of state uses these resources," concluded Ahmedov.-03C06-
