The 12-year education postponed
The draft of 12-year education standard developed by the Institute of Education of Azerbaijan, was submitted to the Ministry of Education. The paper examines the possibility of reducing the number of taught subjects on the model of developed countries. However, it is not known when the new model will be introduced. In May this year at the conference Innovation Strategy, which supports the 12-year education system (K-12), the Minister of Education Mikyail Jabbarov said that the transition will be carried out only after the confidence in the correctness of the chosen path, based on effective international experience. This can be viewed as the revision of the views of the Minister on the implementation of the 12-year education. So, at the 14th Congress of Teachers in December 2013 Jabbarov informed the public about the transition from the 2014-2015 school year to the 12-year-old, 32-week and 5-day training schedule in schools.
Longer training is to improve the process of development of the curriculum, the elimination of the negative impact of a break in the educational process for 3.5 months, the effectiveness of education, and others. In January, President Ilham Aliyev approved the Action Plan for the implementation of education development strategy, according to which, since 2015-2016 academic year in Azerbaijan will put the 12-year system of secondary education. Delaying the transition to 12-year-old system to a large extent is associated with the unfavorable economic situation in the country. This transition will require additional financial resources, lack of which began since the beginning of the year.-0-
