The Azerbaijani Interior Ministry has blocked 148 accounts on the Instagram social platform and Telegram messenger through which drug sales were carried out.
On August 5, an inspection of Internet resources by employees of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for Combating Cybercrime revealed a number of pages, groups and profiles that sold drugs on social networks, the Ministry of Internal Affairs reported. As a result of the measures taken, 117 Instagram pages and 31 Telegram channels managed from foreign countries were blocked. The administrators of these pages exchanged information between network participants through secret channels and encrypted messages.
Fagan Gasimov, born in 1986, and Minir Akchurin, born in 1982, were detained in connection with their involvement in these illegal activities. According to the investigation, the detainees legalized a large amount of proceeds from the sale of drugs through cryptocurrency, etc. in ways. Both have been arrested. Operational and technical measures to identify and detain other members of the criminal group are continuing, the Interior Ministry noted.
