4.5 tons of drugs were seized from illegal traffic in Azerbaijan over 8 months of 2022
Baku/16.09.22/Turan: The State Commission for Combating Drug Addiction and Illicit Drug Trafficking has published data for the end of January-August 2022.
Over 8 months of this year, 7440 drug crimes were detected. Of these, 2,604 were related to illegal sale of drugs, 4,412 – illegal acquisition and possession of drugs, 352 – illegal cultivation of narcotic plants.
This is stated in the message of the State Commission on Combating Drug Addiction and Illicit Drug Trafficking following the results of January-August 2022.
In the reviewed period, 4 tons 410 kg and 32 762 tablets of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances were seized, including 1 ton 886 kg of heroin, 1 ton 474 kg of marijuana, 251 kg of opium, 27 kg of hashish, 260.95 grams of cocaine, 32 238 tablets of methadone, 129 kg 282 257 g of other drugs.
Note that 5,412 people, including 60 citizens of foreign countries, have been brought to criminal responsibility for drug trafficking.
Among the foreigners, 27 were citizens of Iran, 13 – Russia, 8 – Turkey, 7 –Georgia, one each - Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan, Pakistan, Ukraine, 1 –Maldives.
In total, 986 kg and 4178 tablets of various types of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances were seized from foreign citizens.
Total value of 4 narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances seized from illicit trafficking is estimated at 154 million 775,000 manats (91 million US dollars). -05D06-
