Activist Sentenced to 400 Hours of Community Service
Baku /23.10.19 / Turan: In the Khatai District Court, chaired by Judge Javid Huseyn, the lawsuit against psychologist Narmin Shahmarzade ended.
The court found her guilty under the Article 148 (insult) of the Criminal Code and sentenced to 400 hours of community service, acquitting under article 147 (defamation).
At the end of December last year, Shahmarzade published a post on social networks about the national hero Mubariz Ibrahimov. She questioned his heroism. After that, Ibrahimov's mother filed a lawsuit in private prosecution.
Mubariz Ibrahimov died on June 18, 2010 on the front line in the Terter direction, destroying 4 Armenian soldiers and injuring several more.
At today's trial, Shahmarzade stated that she did not offend Ibrahimov"s memory, but only expressed her attitude to the assessment of his act as heroism. She also indicated that she wants a peaceful settlement of the Karabakh conflict and does not want anyone to die. In turn, her lawyer said that in the post of Shahhmarzade there were only criticism, not insult, and asked the court to acquit Shahmarzade. -03D-
