Activist Wants to Divorce His Wife to Protect Her from Persecution
Baku / 05/31/18 / Turan: The Chairman of the Gadabay District Organization of the People's Front Party Ramiz Novruzov said about serious pressure on him and family members.
The persecution began after Novruzov spoke in defense of the arrested former head of the Gadabay region Saleh Rustamov, who was accused first of trafficking drugs and then illegally financing the Popular Front Party.
Novruzov told Turan he had prepared a petition to the presidential administration that spoke of Rustamov's merits when he was head of the district in 1992-1993, his role in the liberation of the village of Bashkend and the protection of other settlements from Armenian aggression. 120 people signed the petition.
After that, an instruction was sent from Baku to conduct an examination in the kindergarten run by Novruzov's spouse, who is a member of the ruling New Azerbaijan Party.
According to Novruzov, because of him, pressure was exerted on his spouse. For this reason, Novruzov wants to divorce so that his wife is left alone.
Recall that S. Rustamov and his nephew Vidadi Rustamli were arrested three weeks ago on charges of illegal drug trafficking.
However, on May 26 the Prosecutor General's Office and the Ministry of Internal Affairs stated that he was accused of illegal entrepreneurship and laundering of dirty money. According to the official version of S. Rustamov engaged in business in Russia, he collected money from entrepreneurs to finance the activities of the Popular Front Party. The money was sent, bypassing the bank's turnover and transferred to the PFPA activists. In this case, three PFPA activists - Babek Hasanov, Aghil Maharramov and Ruslan Nasirli - were arrested.
In the PFPA, the allegations of money laundering were named completely absurd. -05B06--
