A group of non-governmental organizations held a discussion on limiting the activities of NGOs in Azerbaijan and decided to create a structure "Alarm network of NGOs."
As stated in the statement received by Turan, the "Alarm network of NGOs" is concerned that the changes made to the law will create serious limitations in practice non-governmental organizations. In particular, there are problems with the re-registration of NGOs, registration of grants, freezing bank accounts of NGOs, arrest of physical accounts of NGO leaders and others. The network reports that to date more than 20 NGOs in Azerbaijan have faced sanctions. The execution of projects has been suspended. There are official documents to prove all of the above facts.
The "Alarm network of NGOs" intends to take the following measures:
1. Refer to the President to arrange a meeting with NGOs;
2. Urge State NGO Council to take the initiative to address the alarming situation;
3. Meetings and discussions with foreign embassies operating in Azerbaijan;
4. Prepare an assessment document and submit it to state agencies and foreign embassies;
5. Send an appeal to the leaders of major countries and heads of international organizations;
6. Obtain official permission for holding pickets in front of the Ministry of Justice, the Presidential Administration, and the Central Bank;
7. Undertake measures to release arrested members of civil society.-16D04-

In 2017, the Sumgayit City Court ruled to evict the Aliyev family—refugees from Gubadli (Akper, Sarvinaz, Ramil, and two other family members)—from an illegally occupied apartment in the 12th microdistrict, Building 7A, Apartment 35.
