Azad Hasanov Placed in Medical Unit of Detention Center
Baku / 07.27.19 / Turan: A Musavat activist Azad Hasanov called home from Baku Detention Center No. 1 on July 27 and announced that he would continue the hunger strike until he lost consciousness.
This was announced by the head of the press service of the party Musavat Mustafa Hajibeyli. According to him, Hasanov has been transferred to the medical unit of the detention center. "Azad has been on a hunger strike for the sixth day. His condition worsened and after being examined by a doctor today he was transferred to a medical unit," said Hajibeyli. He noted that the detention center leadership was putting pressure on Hasanov to end the hunger strike.
In the public relations department of the Penitentiary Service, at the request of Turan, in connection with the allegation of deterioration of Hasanov's health, they said that information should be clarified in the detention center.
However, later representatives of the department were not available for comments.
Hasanov is on a hunger strike in protest against the delay in his trial in connection with the refusal of the metropolitan police to respond to the request of the court.
On July 22, Hasanov went on a hunger strike right in the courtroom.
* Hasanov has been in political emigration in Lithuania since 2014. On October 11, 2018, he returned to Baku due to his father's serious illness and was detained on the same day.
