Azerbaijani from Russia Complains about State Security Service
Baku / 12.05.18 / Turan: A citizen of the Russian Federation Elnur Ibad Oglu Maharramov appealed to the Azerbaijani media, claiming that on April 24 the Azerbaijani State Security Service (SSS) illegally detained him in the Narimanov district of Baku.
A search was carried out in Maharramov"s rented apartment. At the same time, he himself was fastened with handcuffs to a battery and demanded to admit that he was engaged in illegal international mobile communications and wanted to rob ATMs.
According to Maharramov, SSS officers threatened him in every possible way, putting a pistol to his head. Under pressure and threats, he was forced to sign a confession in all this. According to Maharramov, all this was seen by his friend Nikita Lebedev. Conducting the search, the officers took away Maharramov"s mobile phone.
Maharramov also writes that he filed a complaint with the Russian embassy in Baku, as well as with the Russian Foreign Ministry and the Federal Security Service.
"I was afraid for my life and left this country at night, and now I am in another country. I ask you to investigate the case and punish the guilty and return my seized property.
I am now scared to visit my relatives in Baku, and my relatives are dragged en masse to the SSS now," he writes.
At the Russian Embassy in Baku, the fact of Maharramov"s filing a complaint was confirmed for Turan. The embassy officer noted that the embassy is in contact with law enforcement agencies in order to clarify the circumstances of the incident.
The Azerbaijani SSS has not yet commented on the situation.-02D-
