Azerbaijani political emigrant detained in Brussels
Baku/04.03.20/Turan: This morning in Brussels, a member of the organization of Azerbaijani political emigrants AND ("Movement for Democracy of Azerbaijan") Fuad Akperov was detained.
The reason for the detention was the request of Azerbaijan to Interpol.
Akperov transferred to the Belgian police.
This is stated in the AND statement.
The organization regards this step by the Azerbaijani authorities as a manifestation of their concern over the activities of AND, which is consistently consolidating Azerbaijani political emigrants.
AND believes the alleged charges against Akperov are far-fetched and politically motivated.
The organization indicates that Akperov, although a citizen of Azerbaijan, but he received political asylum in Germany and his extradition to Baku is impossible.
AND is taking steps to speed up the release of Akperov.
The organization’s statement was sent to the Belgian Ministry of Internal Affairs and Interpol. — 06D-
