Baku/15.05.21/Turan: Over the past 30 years, Azerbaijan's water resources have decreased by 10-15 percent due to an increase in the average annual air temperature by 1°C. According to the comments of the Deputy head of the National Hydrometeorological Service, Rafik Verdiyev, posted on the website of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources.

” With an increase in the average temperature on our planet, local precipitation trends and the boundaries of ecological zones change, water resources are reduced and glaciers are melting," Verdiev notes.

According to him, means of forced adaptation to climate change are becoming commonplace and various measures are planned in the future to adapt to fundamental changes in the distribution of water resources in accordance with scenarios of an increase in the average temperature by 2°C or more.

In his opinion, as a result of these measures, it is quite possible to prevent a possible water shortage in the future.

Verdiev added that among these measures are the reduction of water losses by about 40%, the reconstruction of water farms, the use of rainwater and salt-free seawater, etc. -- 05D-
