Baku/15.05.21/Turan: Independent journalist Elmaddin Shamilzade was delivered to the 26th police department of the Yasamal region, and a protocol was drawn up.

"I stopped in front of the cafe and lit a cigarette. The medical mask was on my chin. At that moment, when the police came up, those who were without masks ran away. When I entered the cafe, a police officer came up to me and asked, "Who are they who escaped?" I said that I do not know. He decided to take me to the police office to clarify the situation; I did not protest," Shamilzade said.

Elmaddin Shamilzadeh noted that his friends contacted "102" service in connection with the incident.  “In the police office I was told that they would let me go, but my friends should withdraw my complaint to the service 102. When I refused, they drew up a protocol on an administrative offense under the Article 211.3 of the Code of Administrative Violations and fined me 200 manats,” he said.

While covering the incident in front of the police station, the reporter Nurlan Gahramanli told Turan that he was taken to the police station because of his professional activities and physical pressure was put on him,

“I went to the 26th police station in connection with the arrest of the journalist Elmaddin Shamilzade. There I protested against the confiscation by police officers a journalist Amina Mammadova’s phone. When I said that I was going to shoot the video, three police sergeants took me to the police station. They used violence against me and insulted my family members,” Gahramanli said.

The reporter noted that after being fined 50 manats for allegedly insulting a police officer in accordance with Article 510 of the Code of Administrative Offenses, I was released. I didn't insult anyone," he said.

On May 15, journalists were invited to the Main Police Department of Baku.  “We were received by the deputy chief of the city police Vugar Alekperov. There was a preventive conversation, he expressed complaints about the journalists, and we, in turn, talked with him about the shortcomings that we saw in the police. He told us that this issue would be investigated and if the protocols are unfair, they will be canceled," Gahramanli said.

Elshad Hajiyev, head of the media and public relations department of the Press Service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, said the allegations that Nurlan Gahramanli is under pressure are completely unfounded and false. There is no protocol on the detention of Gahramanli and Shamilzade. -0-
