Aztelekom claims that it is not a monopolist in Ganja
Baku/09.12.21/Turan: Turan has repeatedly published articles about the monopolism and its devastating consequences for the economy of Azerbaijan. The state monopoly in the field of communications is Aztelekom LLC and its subsidiaries. Note that the Aztelekom occupies a dictating position among other similar companies in some areas of the city, and an absolute monopolist in others.
Private entrepreneur Orkhan Ismailov sued Aztelekom and its subsidiary - the telecommunications operator Gəncə TKI. This company, having displaced private providers from city blocks made up of 1-2-storey buildings, became a monopolist in providing Internet through the old ADSL technology. The residents are forced to pay a high price with low quality of services. In his lawsuit, Ismailov demanded that the Nizami district court of Ganja satisfy his right to choose the best Internet provider in the area where the entrepreneur lives. Ismailov also demanded to stop the monopoly activity of TKI in Ganja. In November this year, the court dismissed Ismailov's claim.
Turan made a written request to the Ministry of Digital Development and Transport, with a request to explain the legality of monopoly work in Ganja Aztelekom LLC and Gəncə TKI. The Ministry informed that Aztelekom does not create a monopoly in this city, and Ganja subscribers can freely choose a provider from those available in Ganja. The official response was signed by the head of the Ministry's apparatus Bakhtiyar Mammadov.
After reviewing the response of the Ministry, Orkhan Ismailov told Turan that this response is template, not different from many those received by him from various departments. He believes the official position of the Ministry of Digital Development and Transport as inconsistent with the reality in the telecommunication services market in Ganja. O.Ismailov repeatedly claims that there is no other provider in the courtyard houses of Ganja equipped solely with an ADSL network, except Aztelekom.
"If there is another provider company in the courtyard houses of Ganja in the ADSL networks, except from Aztelekom, I will refuse my demands. I have filed an appeal against the unfair decision of the Nizami court of Ganja," Ismailov replied to Turan.—0—
