Baku mayor's office refused to authorize Tofig Yagublu's protest
Baku/08.07.22/Turan: Baku City Hall refused to authorize a protest rally scheduled for 13 July in front of the Cabinet of Ministers.
The action was appointed by Tofig Yagublu, a member of the National Council of Democratic Forces and the Musavat party, as a protest against the closure of Azerbaijan's land borders.
The Interior Ministry said it would not allow the uncoordinated rally to take place.
According to Yagublu, the mayor's office motivated the refusal by the fact that the notice was submitted less than 5 days before the time of the action. Therefore, he reapplied to the mayor's office and asked to coordinate the action for July 20.
Critics of the government believe that the closure of land borders for citizens helps to artificially raise airfares. -16D06-
