City Challenge Bakı begins with a parade of racing cars
Competitions City Challenge Bakı of classic cars "Formula 1" and GT3 series began on Thursday evening with a parade of race cars on the streets of Baku. The cars started racing in the boulevard to the Kempinski Hotel Badamdar, which is the sponsor of the competition.
At a short press conference the executive director of the German City Challenge Company, Hartmut Beyer said that the appearance of sports cars in the beautiful cities is the philosophy of the City Challenge racing; therefore, the City Challenge race in the streets of the beautiful city of Baku is "logical and natural."
City Challenge TV coverage in 120 countries, with a total audience of 300 million viewers will be another opportunity to show the world Azerbaijan and Baku. According to Bayer, for the crew and pilots was interesting the driving experience on the high streets of Baku, despite "they're used to high speed." "But before they expect three days of high-speed race circuits," said Bayer.
Then the competitors hand autographs and photographs with the residents of Baku. Car brands, including sports car company Mercedes-Benz, Porsche, Lamborghini, McLaren, etc. are involved in the competition. Among the participants are racing champions Jacques Villeneuve and Jos Verstappen.
Racing will be held at the Prospect Neftchiler, Azadlig square and surrounding streets. Total length is 2.1 km.
Free training races will be on October 26. The next day there will be qualifying races and a sprint race.
On October 28 will be racing for all categories of race cars and the final parade.
