Convicted Leader of Muslim Unity Complains about Limitations of His Rights
Baku / 16.03.19 / Turan: In the Gobustan prison, the leader of the Muslim Unity Movement, Taleh Bagirzadeh, was stopped receiving newspapers for which he is subscribed. This was reported by his wife Leila Ismailzadeh.
According to her, on March 7, members of the Public Committee under the Ministry of Justice Saadat Bananyarly and Alimammad Nuriyev visited Taleh.
After this meeting, Taleh was deprived of newspapers, including not only Yeni Musavat and Hurriyet, but also state ones. "They want to completely isolate Taleh from the outside world," said his wife.
In addition, when he speaks with his family, the warden is nearby and listens to everything he says.
In turn, in the Public Relations Department of the Prison Service they stated that the wiretapping of telephone conversations of prisoners was carried out in accordance with the legislation.
As for not providing newspapers, this was explained with "interruptions in postal delivery."
Bagirzadeh was arrested in November 2016 during a special operation in Nardaran and sentenced to 20 years in prison on charges of terrorism and other serious crimes. Local human rights defenders recognize him as political prisoner. -06B-
