Court again postpone consideration of the application of the PFPA activist
Baku/16.07.21/Turan: Today, the Khazar District Court of Baku online considered the appeal of a member of the Popular Front of Azerbaijan (PFPA) Party, Agil Maharramli, to mitigate punishment in connection with serving 2/3 of the term of imprisonment.
The defense raises the question of assigning alternative types of punishment - either replacing the remaining real term with a suspended one, or transferring Maharramli to a prison-settlement, the lawyer Agil Laidjev told Turan. He noted that the court delays the consideration and adoption of the decision, repeatedly postponing it. Today the court decided to postpone the hearing until July 23. Maharramli has already served ¾ of the sentence.
Maharramli was arrested in May 2018 in the so-called case of “illegal financing of the Popular Front Party”. He was sentenced to four years in prison. By the end of May, he has served three years of imprisonment. According to the law, he is entitled to parole. –06D-
