Court of Appeal did not release Bakhtiyar Hajiyev
Baku/15.12.22/Turan:On Thursday, the Baku Court of Appeal (BAC) rejected the complaint of public activist Bakhtiyar Hajiyev, leaving him under arrest.
During the court session, Hajiyev stated that the accusations of hooliganism and disrespect for the court brought against him were fabricated and false.
The activist said that since this morning he went on a hunger strike and intends to continue it until his release.
Human rights activist Rufat Safarov told Turan that Hajiyev also announced that a provocation was being prepared against him.
On December 9, the Khatai Court of Baku arrested Bakhtiyar Hajiyev for the period of investigation for 1 month and 20 days. The activist was charged with hooliganism and contempt of court. He faces up to 1.5 years in prison.
The US State Department, the EU, international human rights organizations called for the release of Hajiyev. ---03В06---
